First thing- good for them for getting tonys.com. How many people do you think type that URL in, hoping to get info on the Tony awards, only to be greeted by a low budget pizza brand? Hilarious. Second thing- lots of complaints about Tony’s new “Pizzeria Style” on the Facebook page. Lots of complaints. I haven’t had it in a while, so we’ll see how this goes. According to the story page on their website, (yeah, I do my research,) this “new” recipe is actually an OG throwback to how the pizza was when it was from an actual restaurant, and not on sale 2 for 1 at Star Market.
First impression out of the box- this is going to be underwhelming. The crust looks like store brand knockoff Boboli. While cooking, it smells good, but at the same time, not really like pizza. Now, how does it actually taste? This crust tastes like cardboard. Wow this is so definitely disappointing. I haven’t had one in a while but I think that they are actually worse than before. Just no taste and a weird texture… like if you baked a Lunchables pizza crust. The sauce is completely dry, with not very good coverage on the pizza. The sauce did add some spice to the bites where there was sauce. It actually was the tastiest part. The cheese has no taste and is also totally dry. The pepperoni are also completely average at best. These are so overpriced at usually $3.99 that I’m actually offended they would charge that much for so little quality.
