The Baking Steel works in the same way as a pizza stone, except the steel conducts heat better, so your oven is able to get hotter. This leads to nice crispy pizzas that bake a lot more quickly than with a pizza stone.
I received my Baking Steel as a gift and personally use it to bake almost all of my homemade pizzas. Before baking my pizzas, I preheat the oven for an hour at 550F with the Baking Steel inside.
