Our first day of girls’ weekend in DC, my friends and I decided to do a little bar crawl around Arlington while we waited to meet up with our other friends. A few hours in, we happened across Pete’s Pizza, who just happened to be giving away free pizza if you could make cornhole throws… unfortunately, only 1 of the 3 of us girls managed to hit the shot at that point. 1 free slice, 1 bought pizza, a metro ride & decent walk later, we landed at the Lincoln Memorial for a pizza picnic. Just my friends and I sitting on the grass, listening to the Forrest Gump soundtrack, drinking Bandit wine, and eating pizza… can’t go wrong with that.
I feel so bad but I honestly just don’t remember a lot about this pizza. It was cold by the time we sat down to eat it, but that’s our bad. It’s New Haven style, and does a pretty good job honoring that. The thin crust & cheese were on point, I don’t remember anything about the sauce besides that it was spread thin, and the pepperonis were average. A little more sauce and a little more cheese would have made this better IMO. Overall, good stuff. If you were a CT transplant in DC then I’m guessing this is as close as you can get to authentic New Haven pizza. Why don’t more places just use the same kind of pepperonis as Pepe’s?!
