Nebo has been a mainstay on the Rose Kennedy Fitzgerald Greenway since they relocated there from their original North End location in 2013. Nebo is right on Atlantic Ave near South Station, in a beautiful space with huge windows looking onto the street. When it’s warm out they have a lovely patio right on the street where you can people watch while you sip wine and indulge yourself with carbs. Owned by the Pallotta sisters, this restaurant is a labor of love, which definitely shows as soon as you step foot in the door.
I’ve visited Nebo numerous times, for wildly different occasions, and it’s because they’re great for so many different occassions. Late night pizza & drinks after the other local restaurants turn into more of a bar scene? Nebo. Lunch al fresco to escape from a stressful work day? Nebo. Date night with your boo, when you want to get a little fancy? Nebo is the spot. The only gripe I’ve ever had is that they don’t start serving pizzas until 2pm, but it turns out that’s because they make the dough fresh every single morning.
Although I can’t speak for the pastas, the pizzas that I’ve had have always been great. The pizzas that keep me coming back to Nebo are the Pugliese pizza and the Prosciutto e Fichi pizza. I mean, just look at them! The burrata on the Pugliese is so creamy and perfectly balanced by the EVOO, basil, and sauce. The combo of proscuitto, fig jam, gorgonzola, and mozz on the Proscuitto e Fichi is what dreams are made of.
I’ve also had the Christina, which is heartier with its generous amount of bacon, sausage, and corn, and the classic Margherita, which is as good as they come. The pizzas tend to come out a little well done, but that’s more than okay with me (just something to be aware of if you hate a little char on your crust.)
